Every year I witness the same thing when the NBA finals come around.
People get excited, people get disappointed, people get happy, people get sad, people get angry, people gain friends, people lose friends. What I can tell you is, with all these emotions, people ENJOY the games.
I ask myself over and over, "why do people get so involved when they're not even involved?". I guess it's the socializing that captivates everyone. I mean, if everyone is doing it, do you really want to be the only one NOT doing it?
What better way to enjoy a free night after a long day of school or work? The energy from all your friends, all your acquaintances, all the people you have on your social media, and all the connected persons from your social media friends' friend list. So you see, the connection that's involved takes the socializing to a whole new level.
I will warn you though, with all the positive there's always the negative.
NBA finals is a very challenging time, a time where your;patience, your friendships and your heart is tested! I'm sure you think I'm being a bit dramatic, but if you're into it then I'm sure you can relate!
NEVER get too emotionally involved. You're not guaranteed a win!
NEVER take it too serious with your pairs, especially if you're all rooting for different teams. I'm telling you, this definitely put holes in some relations.
NEVER lose that joy and excitement of watching a game.
NEVER let an outcome ruin your positive vibes!
Be sure to enjoy it.
Enjoy the festive atmosphere, enjoy the rivalry, enjoy the challenges between your pairs. Take advantage of these times, these moments, these games, because these are one of the few times when people can actually relate to each other. Everyone is so caught up in their own world, in different internet platforms and such that socializing among each other is diminishing. These are the moments that define us and brings out the best in us. Coming together is what makes us better people.
May the better team win....(without the help of the refs some may say).
BE SOCIAL.
