Often times great athletes, great musicians, great artists, great actors, great talented people are criticized for the way they live THEIR lives. Most times they're criticized because they aren't living the life that people expect and demand of them.
Being idolized by people is definitely an honor but can also be a burden. After all, who wouldn't enjoyed being praised for their great talents, who wouldn't enjoy being classed among the best, who wouldn't want to be great at what they do?! As your talent develops, as you and your skills grow, you begin to attract more eyes to you. Eyes that not only judge, but eyes that admire and idolize you. Eyes belonging to persons that want to mimic you and rise to that "great" talent that you have. This is where the complication starts and I think this is where people lack the ability to differentiate. The eagerness to possess certain skills, the ambition to be on a level shouldn't translate to one trying to be like the other who holds the "great" talent that you wish to someday have.
As an idol, as a person who is great in what they do, why should that be a burden to them? Why should a natural ability that has been developed become literally "a life changer". Why should being great require that person to live according to what society demands? Why should being great set limits to that person who possess such abilities? Why should being great stop that person from making the decisions that they want? Being great does not make one into a God, being great does not evolve one into something beyond that of a human that they are. Becoming an idol isn't something that is decided by someone who possesses great talent, it is decided by those who who admire and seek to rise to that level. Those who idolize want that great level and all the great things that comes with it, they don't want to be that great person that they idolize.
So why are "idols" crucified when they say something wrong, or eat something different, or make a mistake, or tell a lie, or disagree with something that you agree with, or live differently to what you expect of them? Why are their actions amplified compared to ours? We as society need to realize that a person's status doesn't change their humanity. A person shouldn't have to live by limitations or be burdened by what they have or worked hard for. We're all humans, we all live different and make mistakes.........
We all bleed blood!
