You may see it as jealousy but that's just because you're not looking at the bigger picture!
Now, think about the small picture that I'm going to describe to you called REALITY.
There are about 556 open NBA player contracts ranging from $50 Thousand to $150 Million. From this range about 80%, maybe more, are $1 million + contracts being paid to persons playing a sport they play NOT because of the money, but because they LOVE the sport.
IMAGINE! The world is handing out billions of dollars to NBA athletes to play a sport they would play even if they weren't getting paid. IMAGINE! This is just basketball. What about Football, Soccer, Hockey, Baseball, Gulf, Volleyball, Track & Field, and so much more sports? Can you do the calculations?
I can't, but I can calculate enough to know that those billions are just adding up to more billions.
We have created a world where unnecessary amount of money is handed out to athletes so that the ones who created the system can benefit greatly without suspicion. We have created such a huge segregation in the world that athletes feel less accomplished if they could never make it to the point where they can collect these large sums of money. We have created a world where the fun & friendly nature of sports is fading.........
..........A world where we have become blind by the fantasy of it all that has become the reality. A world where we constantly miss the BIGGER picture. The bigger picture where we are still in the same world that millions are suffering each and every day. A world where millions are starving, thirsty, homeless, sick, poor and struggling. A world where money is the attention, not the poor persons who really needs attention. We have created a world where we can give away millions of dollars to thousands of people who are willing to do something for free, for the love of it, but can't find money to give to the people who really NEED it.
I can NEVER agree to giving away these ridiculous amounts of money every year when the world is suffering as it is. Do you still think I'm jealous?

Jealous... No... Not at all. But why should I be envied for what I work hard for? Just think about it.... The world is full of problems and I'd like helping out where I can.... Just not at the cost of what I worked for.... And definitely not out of obligation.... Good article though.... I see where you're coming from and I even agree to some extend....
