There are 2 types of people in this world; those who enjoy the best of life, and those who settle for a boring lifestyle.
If you're one of the few that's uninterested in the beauty of life then I'm sorry but St.Maarten is definitely
not for you. Where I'm from, beauty will swallow you, so if that's not what you're looking for, I'd strongly advise you to stay away (I don't want to disappoint). Usually I'd welcome any and everyone to the island, but how can I invite you if what you're running from is EVERYWHERE?
If you're
not interested in an exciting arrival, I'm sorry to disappoint again! When coming to St.Maarten, boring is the last word you'd use.
Imagine landing just a few feet above crystal clear water, imagine landing a few feet above beautiful people - almost close enough for them to jump and touch the bottom of the aircraft you're in....
imagine looking out your window and seeing so many hands waving in excitement for your arrival,
imagine seeing some of the beautiful hotels you can possibly stay in, imagine seeing the brightness and warmth that you're going to experience everyday! But who am I to try and persuade you? If you're not into an exciting arrival, this is definitely the wrong place for you!
For some of you you may be used to what you grew up knowing. For some of you you don't feel the need to experience different. For some of you your dark & cold mass of water is enough to please you. I'm not judging you, but I don't want to disappoint you either, so if you're expecting to come to that in St.Maarten, you might as well stay away.
St.Maarten has 1,2,3,4....37 beaches that will disappoint you if you're looking for anything that's not blue, clear and warm! Shoes aren't needed to the beach (seems like I'm constantly disappointing you) , we let our toes sink into the white, warm, soft sand. Walking on/in the sand is like walking the red carpet, just this time it's leading you to experience taking a dive into warmth. There's no more thoughts of "I wonder what's in the water where I'm swimming". Open your eyes and look down, those 10 little things you see wiggling are your toes! If you don't like to see your toes while you're in the water, if you don't like to see fishes swimming around your feet, if you don't want to know when someone is under the water creeping up on you, I'm sorry but the beaches in St.Maarten definitely aren't for you.
Dive into Paradise!
If you're looking for a perfect place then you're probably looking in the wrong direction. St.Maarten isn't perfect, but it's perfectly imperfect.
If you're not looking for diversification, if you're too sour in the mornings or during the day, if you're looking for full modernization in all sense of the word, if you're not looking for surprises along the way during your trip,......need I tell you again St.Maarten isn't for you?
St.Maarten is a place where we welcome everyone, a place where regardless of where you're from you're part of the community. You don't have to be known to be get a smile, you don't have to be known to be greeted, you don't have to be known to be helped, you don't have to be known to feel comfortable, so I'm sorry to disappoint if you're not much of a social person.
I'm not sorry that our island isn't modernized. I'm not sorry that we didn't sell away all of our culture - all that what makes us who we are. So if that's not what you're looking for, sorry to disappoint you once again because St.Maarten offers beauty that isn't created, but beauty that is natural!
If you're looking for a small island then you may have the right island for once, but if you're looking for a small island that there's nothing to do, that you won't enjoy, I suggest you continue googling.
St.Maarten is a sure place to go if you want to disappoint your dull expectations, come and enjoy PARADISE, come and enjoy my home!
